한국어 수업에 새 공책이 필요했어요.
문구점에는 공책과 펜이 많았어요.

저는 파란색 공책을 봤어요.
표지가 깔끔하고 가격도 괜찮았어요.
저는 공책 한 권하고 검은색 펜 하나를 샀어요.
계산대에서 직원에게 돈을 냈어요.

집에 와서 새 공책에 이름을 썼어요.
오늘부터 이 공책으로 한국어를 공부해요.

필요하다 means “to need” or “to be necessary.”

3. 문구점에는 공책과 펜이 많았어요.

문구점에는 = in the stationery store / as for the stationery store
공책과 펜이 = notebooks and pens / subject
많았어요 = there were many
This sentence means: There were many notebooks and pens at the stationery store.

과/와 connects nouns and means “and.”

4. 저는 파란색 공책을 봤어요.

저는 = I / topic
파란색 공책을 = blue notebook / object
봤어요 = saw, looked at
This sentence means: I looked at a blue notebook.

파란색 means “blue.” 보다 means “to see” or “to look at.”

5. 표지가 깔끔하고 가격도 괜찮았어요.

표지가 = the cover / subject
깔끔하고 = was neat, and
가격도 = the price also
괜찮았어요 = was okay
This sentence means: The cover was neat, and the price was also okay.

-고 connects two descriptions. means “also” or “too.”

6. 저는 공책 한 권하고 검은색 펜 하나를 샀어요.

공책 한 권하고 = one notebook and
검은색 펜 하나를 = one black pen / object
샀어요 = bought
This sentence means: I bought one notebook and one black pen.

is used to count books or notebooks. 하고 connects nouns and means “and.”

7. 계산대에서 직원에게 돈을 냈어요.

계산대에서 = at the checkout counter
직원에게 = to the staff member
돈을 냈어요 = paid money
This sentence means: I paid the staff member at the checkout counter.

돈을 내다 means “to pay money.” 에게 can mean “to someone.”

8. 집에 와서 새 공책에 이름을 썼어요.

집에 와서 = came home and
새 공책에 = in/on the new notebook
이름을 썼어요 = wrote my name
This sentence means: I came home and wrote my name in the new notebook.

-아/어서 can connect two actions naturally.

9. 오늘부터 이 공책으로 한국어를 공부해요.

오늘부터 = from today
이 공책으로 = with this notebook
한국어를 공부해요 = study Korean
This sentence means: From today, I study Korean with this notebook.

-(으)로 can show a tool or method.

English Translation

This afternoon, I went to a stationery store.
I needed a new notebook for Korean class.
There were many notebooks and pens at the stationery store.

I looked at a blue notebook.
The cover was neat, and the price was also okay.
I bought one notebook and one black pen.
I paid the staff member at the checkout counter.
