I’m Hyunku Lee, a government-certified Korean language teacher and the founder of TodayKorean.
After more than seven years of teaching learners from over 50 countries, I built TodayKorean around one recurring challenge: understanding Korean is not always the same as being able to use it.

FROM DESIGNER TO KOREAN TEACHER
I started as a teacher, not a course creator.
I studied design and began my career as a designer. Later, I started teaching Korean online, one student at a time.
Those lessons taught me more than any fixed teaching formula could. I saw which explanations students remembered, where beginners became confused, and how much practice they needed before a grammar point became something they could actually use.
At the same time, learning English myself reminded me that understanding an explanation is only the beginning. A language becomes usable through repeated exposure, practice, and putting it together yourself.

Across thousands of lessons, I saw the same pattern: many learners could recognize grammar and vocabulary, but stopped when they had to build a sentence themselves.
They did not always need more information. They needed a clearer sequence, guided practice, and repeated opportunities to use what they had already learned.
That is why TodayKorean moves from understanding a pattern to practicing it, building sentences with it, and bringing it back again in later lessons.
The goal is not to memorize one perfect sentence. It is to understand the pattern well enough to build another one yourself.
